Description
Starting in Leukerbad, you go up on the right flank of the Dala valley towards Chällerflüe. It is best to refresh yourself with a coffee and croissant in the Birchen restaurant for the upcoming ascent of almost 500 altitude meters. The ascent includes a crossing of "Chällerflüe," here you push the bike about 350 meters upwards. Although the path is wide and secured on the valley side with wire ropes, surefootedness is advantageous. But a bit of overcoming is worth it: Once at the top, a wide view opens into the Rhone valley. The panorama quickly makes you forget the short pushing section. After a well-deserved break, a descent of superlatives follows: 1100 altitude meters on top-class singletrails down to Varen. The wine village in the best Valais southern slope location invites you to stop and visit a wine cellar. Finally, the historic town of Leuk and the imposing town hall with castle offer you another opportunity to end your exciting day.

Turn-by-turn directions
The route leads from Leukerbad westwards past the sports arena on singletrails and field paths to Birchen. From there, you follow the pleasantly ascending forest road up to Alp Larschi. A wide and clear field path takes you to the crossing of the rock wall Chällerflüe. Then you continue on foot, pushing the bike across a traverse and a short climb to "Pfarschong." The last altitude meters are now overcome, followed by a varied, moderately difficult singletrail descent. This leads briefly over open pasture areas, then through the flowing Varner forest down to Varen. Shortly before "Taschonieru," it gets technically a bit more demanding. Leisurely, it goes over loose stones and short rock passages. From Varen, you reach Leuk on wide field roads and finally on cycle route no. 72 to Leuk and further to Susten station.
