Description
The starting point is the thermal spa resort Leukerbad. Initially, the route goes through the old village and past the historic hotel of the resort, the Maison Blanche. An easy field path leads to below the Albinen ladders. These are vertical wooden ladders that do not have to be overcome on the mountain bike. A secondary road leads up to the valley station of the Torrent cable car with the Flaschen restaurant. Up to Albinen you can look forward to singletrails with easy obstacles that are easy to ride over or roll over. The mountain village Albinen is a small gem with charm. The origin of the village dates back to the 11th century when residents from Leukerbad moved to Albinen and continuously inhabited the cultivated land. After a short stop in Albinen, the route continues through a beautiful forest to St. Barbara. From there you ride past the sun-drenched vineyards to Leuk and further to Susten.

Turn-by-turn directions
After leaving the village of Leukerbad, the first section of the route leads on the east side of the Dala valley along an easy field path, gently descending to the Albinen ladders. Then follows a short ascent of around 280 meters on a secondary road to the valley station of the Torrent cable car at Flaschen. From there, you branch off onto a beautiful singletrail that follows the ridge up to above Dorbu. From there to Albinen, you have to briefly use the main road below. After crossing the picturesque mountain village of Albinen and passing the Miligrabu, the route continues on natural surfaces and a flowing singletrail to St. Barbara. Be careful, there the main road to Leukerbad with fast traffic is crossed. Ride above Leuk along the ridge path and enjoy the beautiful view of the village. Finally, it goes downhill to the Rhône to Susten station.

Author's recommendation
Before heading home, a short stop at the Mathieu bakery in Susten is worthwhile. There you will find the finest Valais rye bread AOP and grape seed products.

Leuk is accessible by Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) train, then the bus (LLB – Leuk Leukerbad Bus Reisen) runs to the starting point in Leukerbad.
