Testing life in Valais

What is it like to live and work in Valais? A family of four from the canton of Bern decided to find out. For one full week. As part of the project “Testing Life in Valais,” Simone, Remo, Nico and Leonie Braunschweiler explore everyday life in Valais: working, researching, biking, marvelling and enjoying. Valais/Wallis Promotion accompanied the family with a camera and captured their experiences in five authentic video episodes. From the glacier, to a biotechnology company, all the way to the vineyards.

1st Episode – Biking in Leukerbad

Action to kick things off! The Braunschweiler family discovers what Valais feels like on two wheels, exploring the trails of Leukerbad with a bike guide, a flow trail and plenty of muddy fun.

2nd Episode – Working in Valais

Day two is all about working life in Valais: Simone visits the pharmaceutical company Ten23 in Visp, while Remo spends the day at a primary school in Baltschieder. Both discover how modern and welcoming Valais is in a professional setting. Meanwhile, the children explore the MINT-World and learn that research and discovery can be great fun in Valais.

From the Fondation Gianadda in Martigny to Barryland: the family immerses itself in art, culture and Valaisan joie de vivre – between masterpieces and Saint Bernards.

4th Episode – On the Great Aletsch Glacier

The highlight of the week: with mountain guide Dominik Nellen, the family ventures onto the largest glacier in the Alps. An experience full of awe and reflection on the future of this giant of ice.

5th Episode – Wine, Raclette and the Grand Finale

To wrap up their week, the “Braunis” discover the Mediterranean flair of Sion: the old town market, a wine tasting and raclette in the vineyard. A perfect finale full of flavour and emotion.
