The ride starts in the thermal spa resort of Leukerbad. The route initially leads through the old village and past the resort’s historical Maison Blanche hotel before following a simple track through the meadows to the “Albinenleitern”. These are vertical wooden ladders that allow hikers to negotiate the cliffs, but mountain bikers have an alternative: a side road that climbs up to the base station of the Flaschen–Torrentalp gondola and the Restaurant Flaschen. From here, delightful singletrack trails with easy obstacles lead to Albinen. This mountain village is a gem full of charm dating back to the 11thCentury, when residents of Leukerbad settled the area and started cultivating the surrounding land. After a short break in Albinen, the route continues through a beautiful forest down to St. Barbara. From here, you ride past sunny vineyards to Leuk and then on to Susten.
