VerticAlp Emosson
The mountain trains running between Châtelard and Emosson are truly enjoyable rail experiences. Take the funicular from Le Châtelard to Château d’Eau. At an incline of 87%, this little train is the steepest two-track funicular in the world! After this, transfer to the small-gauge train, rattling along the mountainside on 60-centimetre tracks to the Emosson dam. Only visitors with no vertigo should look downward. Instead focus on the spectacular panorama and the views to the mighty Mont Blanc. Now take the Minifunic (a type of lift) which leads straight up on a rail. This is a true funicular safari!
