Blatten Village Cross-Country Skiing Trail

Relatively flat cross-country skiing track around Blatten (Lötschen)

Just above the  bus stop "Blatten (Lötschen) Post" and above the large car park, the route initially runs over a large area. Here you can do a few laps to warm up. Afterwards you cross the river Lonza and follow a slight incline towards Fafleralp. After crossing the bridge at Eisten you have the possibility to go back to the starting point on the valley track or through a small wood. If you decide on the valley track, you can choose a small additional loop. This loop leads you to a small ascent. From here you have a wonderful view of Blatten. Afterwards you will walk between barns back to the starting point.

Public transport

The postbus runs from Gampel-Steg or Goppenstein to Blatten ("Blatten, Dorf"). Then proceed on foot to the trail access.

Approach

Drive into the Lötschental from Goppenstein, past the villages of Ferden, Kippel and Wiler to Blatten. Proceed on foot to the trail access.

Parking

You can park your car in the car park in Blatten (fee).

  • Plan every cross-country skiing trip carefully
  • Make sure that the equipment is suitable and complete
  • Never go on a tour alone
  • Inform relatives, friends, the hut keeper or the hotel porter about your tour. Report back on arrival at your destination
  • Observe the weather development constantly
  • Observe the principle: in case of doubt turn back!
