Situated at the heart of the Chablais, Monthey is known for its festive character and love of culture. The castle is home to a museum, and the Crochetan theatre’s renown goes well beyond the border of the canton. The town’s 100-year-old Carnival is among the most famous in Western Switzerland. Monthey is an ideal home base for outings on skis or on foot. The sporting facilities here are extensive and the broad infrastructures for swimming, skating, tennis and horseback riding also allow the town to host numerous winter and summer sporting events.
