Saffron

Did you know that saffron is produced in Valais? It is cultivated in fields in the municipality of Mund, a small village on the northern slopes of the Rhône valley above Naters. About 3 kilos of saffron are produced in Mund every year. It takes around 180 flowers to obtain a single gram of the precious spice: this is an exceptional and exclusive product. To buy Mund saffron, you have to travel in person to the village. You can also enjoy it at the village restaurant in different forms: saffron bread, saffron rice, even iced parfait flavoured with saffron.
