Valais enjoys an excellent reputation for its freeride scene: you will find some of the world’s legendary freeride areas here.
Several Valais ski areas have established secured freeride itineraries that offer enthusiasts a taste of adventure away from the prepared pistes. Here is a selection. Please note: Freeride is only for highly experienced skiers and/or those accompanied by a guide. Before setting off, check the weather forecast and avalanche risk report. Obey all piste markings, and do not attempt any freeride itinerary that is closed. Appropriate equipment with an avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe is strongly recommended.
