The village Savièse during summer, Valais

Savièse

Situated on a magnificent, sun-drenched plateau high above the town of Sion, the villages of Savièse make up one of the canton’s major wine-growing regions. Overlooking the Rhône Valley and dominated by the Sanetsch Pass, Savièse has a multitude of attractions waiting to be discovered, in both summer and winter. Its sunny vineyards and villages are criss-crossed by numerous bisses and hiking trails, on which natural treasures can be explored, such as the meadows on the slopes of the Sanetsch, the karst topography of Zanfleuron or the Torrent-Neuf bisse with its impressive footbridges. Culture is ever-present here thanks to local traditions and to the rich collection of artworks left behind by the painters of the School of Savièse, from Raphaël Ritz to Albert Chavaz.
