Description

As soon as you have crossed the Rhone – which is still a small wild river here – a short but steep ascent follows! The beautiful village of Ernen alone, with its contrasting house facades of sun-darkened wood and flawless white, is worth the effort. Those expecting another ascent now will be surprised: from here, the road winds almost flat through spruce and larch forests. In autumn, when the larches don their enchanting golden coat, this section turns into a pure feast for the eyes! You elegantly bypass the subsequent car tunnel on a natural road. A few kilometers further, you reach the village of Binn. Here the valley finally opens up before you, and the small village of Fäld already welcomes you with its two cozy inns.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the Lax train station and the cantonal road, a short descent takes you over the Rhone, which is still a small wild river here, before the ascent brings you to the pretty village of Ernen. You turn right and follow the relatively flat road that winds along the mountainside until you reach a long car tunnel. As a cyclist, you can elegantly bypass this on a well-developed natural road along the mountain. Along this two-kilometer section, you will be repeatedly surprised by works of art. At the tunnel’s exit, you rejoin the cantonal road that takes you to the valley's main town: Binn. You bypass the village and continue your discovery journey through the valley to the small village of Fäld. In Binntal, a wide range of restaurants awaits you, providing for your physical well-being and a welcome refreshment.
