This bike trail leads over the southern Alps from Saas-Balen and the Bodme to Saas-Grund. It is a relaxed mountain stage with a rapid descent. <strong>Note: Due to construction work in Saas-Balen, the route may be temporarily redirected.</strong>

Description

The path begins at the village square of Saas-Balen and leads around the old village to the Fellbach waterfall. Before the waterfall, the path turns right and follows the field road over the Rittmal and Tewaldji Alps. At the crossroads, it goes down to the houses on the right and immediately left again over the meadow into the forest. Over roots and stones, the path leads through the larch forest to the Bodme, the alp above Saas-Grund. From here, follow the field road down to Saas-Grund.

Warning, the descent is fast! At the valley station, you can turn towards the sports/tennis court and bike to the post square in Saas-Grund.

Return trip to Saas-Balen possible via the valley path along the Saaser Vispa.

Getting there
Information

Public transport

Take the SBB to Visp and change there to the PostBus towards Saas-Fee (bus 511). Get off at the Saas-Balen stop Dorf.

Important!: Remember to reserve a spot for your mountain bike via the SBB Mobile App or on sbb.ch.

Approach

By car, the Saas Valley is easy and convenient to reach from all directions, whether from Switzerland or abroad. From the north, you reach us via Bern through the Lötschberg car shuttle. From the east, you come via the Furka Pass or the Furka car shuttle. From the south, we are accessible via the Simplon Pass or the Simplon car shuttle, and from the west you drive via Lausanne along the Rhone Valley to Visp and from there towards Saas-Fee.

From Visp, drive south towards Saas-Fee. At the "Killerhof" roundabout near Stalden, take the second exit towards Saas-Fee and follow the main road to Saas-Balen.

After the bridge to the right is the public car park of Saas-Balen.
