Autumn mood in the vineyard near St-Léonard

St-Léonard

This sunny wine-growing village, halfway between Sion and Sierre, is mainly known for its underground lake, the largest in Europe. Located on the right bank of the Rhône, in the heart of sun-drenched vineyards, this valley village is known for being home to the largest natural and navigable underground lake in Europe. At 300 m long, this privileged witness to the formation of the Alps is nestled in the hillside, at a depth of about 30 to 70 m under the vineyards and constitutes a major tourist attraction for an outing during a stay in Valais.
