The wind whistles around your ears, occasionally a stone crunches under your shoe. But otherwise you hear... nothing! The pioneers who built the Balfrin Höhenweg over several summers in the 1950s didn't call the connection between Saas-Fee and Grächen the "path to silence" for nothing. Even today, there are no pubs or mountain hotels to disturb the peace on this hike. After this challenging start, the equally panoramic Europaweg trail follows, accompanied by the majestic Weisshorn over the next few days. Finally, the Matterhorn comes into view as high up in the sky an eagle circles. The mountain world through which the Swiss Tour Monte Rosa leads is a feast for all the senses.
