Gornergrat Bahn - The Matterhorn Railway
The Gornergrat presents the world of the Alps in all its glory. The trains on Europe’s highest open-air cog railway run every 24 minutes and take you from Zermatt to the sunny viewing platform (2089m). Surrounded by 29 4000-metre peaks, including the majestic Matterhorn and Dufourspitze, to say nothing of the Alps’ third-longest glacier, the Gornergrat commands panoramic views worthy of all hyperbole. When dew still lies on the meadows and nature slowly begins to stir – visitors will be experiencing an unforgettable sunrise. Take all the time to enjoy this indescribable experience! The Gornergrat Bahn runs 365 days each year. The journey from Zermatt up to the Gornergrat takes about 40 minutes. Reservations are not necessary.
