Bayart tower

Now a symbol of Saillon, the Bayart tower overlooking the Rhône valley owes its name to Dame Bayart, who owned the land. It has nothing to do, then, with the Chevalier de Bayard - the knight •without fear and beyond reproac. This keep, 19 metres high and almost 10 metres wide, was built around 1260 by the architect Pierre Meinier, at the request of Count Peter II of Savoy
