Description

Departure from Le Bouveret train station towards the shore of Lake Geneva. The bike ride takes you along the lively lakeside promenade towards Swiss Vapeur Parc and its miniature trains and Aquaparc with its great water slides. Lakeside restaurants invite you to gather strength before continuing your ride.

Turn-by-turn directions

From Le Bouveret, follow the Rhone towards the Porte-du-Scex Castle (1597), which today regularly hosts cultural exhibitions as the museum of the Chablais region. The Rhone riverside road is not accessible to cars. The ride then continues via Vouvry towards Illarsaz. There you have the option of a detour to the World Cycling Center CMC. Before reaching Collombey-le-Grand, you pass near the refinery with its large tanks. You pass through Collombey with its distinctive Bernhardine monastery dating from 1647. The ride continues through the upper village part of Muraz, along the Stockalper Canal through the nature reserve “Les Rigoles” of Vionnaz and its moorlands. After a short climb, you reach the old part of the village of Vionnaz. A small detour takes you to the “Great Wall”, where a bench invites you to take a break and enjoy the magnificent view over the Rhone valley. The route continues again along the Stockalper Canal towards Vouvry and Les Evouettes. Kaspar-Jodok von Stockalper had this canal built in 1648 to facilitate the transport of various goods, such as salt. Back in Le Bouveret, the cycle path continues towards St-Gingolph through the hamlets Les Esserts and Les Vignolles. You pass a fountain shaped like a ship, from which healing mineral spring water flows; then back to Le Bouveret along the shore of Lake Geneva.
