The Saffron Museum
The Mund saffron museum is a museum within a museum. The historic barn in which the museum is located was built in the year 1437 and is among the oldest wooden buildings in Switzerland. The museum shows saffron cultivation, from the hard work in the field to the culinary speciality which is ultimately produced. You can view the equipment which is used to cultivate and harvest saffron and learn about the harvest, saffron products and the unique qualities of Mund saffron (combined cultivation of saffron and winter rye). The museum has special opening hours in October during the saffron harvest. The museum is also open throughout the year, upon request, for groups of 10 persons or more.
