Towards sunrise with all our senses - Belalp

Come with us and experience a spectacular sunrise on the Foggenhorn. Before the hike, we fortify ourselves with a hearty soup and walk up the mountain at a leisurely pace, step by step. During the hike, we sharpen our senses with various exercises. We see, hear, smell, feel and taste. The magical moments before sunrise and the imposing panorama of numerous 4,000 metre mountains and the Great Aletsch Glacier are the icing on the cake. Let yourself be surprised. We take enough time for the return journey to Belalp, where a sumptuous brunch awaits us at Hamilton Lodge. The subsequent return journey can be organised individually.

Offer

We meet at 21:45 at the Belalp Bahnen valley station in Blatten near Naters. The post bus will take you comfortably to the starting point (start in Brig 21:18). We take the cable car (21:50) up to the beautiful Belalp (2095 metres above sea level). Here we are already in the middle of the fantastic Valais mountains. A hearty soup awaits us at the Hamilton Lodge to fortify us for our night hike. At a very leisurely pace, we tackle the metres in altitude step by step. During the hike, we sharpen our senses and prepare for a magical sunrise on the summit. Let yourself be surprised! Once at the top, we can enjoy an impressive panorama of numerous 4,000-metre peaks and the Great Aletsch Glacier. We take plenty of time for the hike back to Belalp. A hearty breakfast awaits us at around 08:15. The subsequent return journey to Blatten can be planned individually.

The hike is suitable for adults and young people aged 12 and over.

Brig railway station, post bus to Blatten b. Naters 21:18

9.45 pm, Belalp cable car valley station

Carry along

• High walking boots with good tread

• Warm clothes in layers

• Rain protection

Requirements

• Duration: 5-6 hours

• Ascent: 810 m

• Descent: 810 m

• Distance: 11.3 km

• Difficulty level: T2 (SAC hiking scale)

We take many breaks and hike slowly. Nevertheless, a certain basic fitness level and surefootedness are required. We will be walking for about 8 hours and the pure walking time is about 5.5 hours.
