Head to the start of this educational wine trail via PostBus, then make your way along Valais’s historic dry-stone walls up to the St. Jodern Wine Cellars, learning exciting facts about the local wine culture as you progress along the walk. Once you reach the wine cellar, you’ll get a chance to taste some local wines, including Heida, as well as trying a number of culinary specialties. Once you’ve finished your tasting, the PostBus will take you to Visperterminen where you can round off your day with lunch and a circular hike along the Bisse de Beitra, enjoying the view of the Bietschhorn and Matterhorn mountains along the way.

Programme

• 10.10-10.14am: Bus ride from Visp "Busterminal" to the "Toppi" bus stop

• 10.15-11am: Hike along the wine trail up to the St. Jodern Winery - total length: 2 kilometres; walking time: 45 minutes; altitude: 789 to 880 metres; difficulty: easy

• 11-11.45am: Guided tasting of Heida wine and three other wines accompanied by culinary specialities (rye bread, mountain cheese)

• 12.05-12.10pm: Walk to the Visperterminen "Kellerei" bus stop

• 12.16-12.33am: Bus journey from Visperterminen "Kellerei" to the final Visperterminen "Busterminal" stop

• 12.33-2pm: leisurely lunch at restaurant Gebidem in the heart of the Heidadorf

• 2-4pm: circular walk along the Suone Beitra - total length: 6 kilometres; walking time: 2 hours; altitude:1300 to 1450 metres; difficulty: easy

• 4.18-4.41/5.25-5.48/6.25-6.48pm: Return journey from Visperterminen "Busterminal" to Visp

• 4.57pm/5.57pm/6.57pm: Visp station, train departure to Bern

  5.06pm/6.06pm/7.06pm: Visp station, train departure to Lausanne

What's included:

• Wine tasting, accompanied by a plate of mountain cheese and rye bread

• Crispy pork schnitzel with roast potatoes and baked vegetables served with 1dl Heida or Pinot Noir

• Bus ride Visp - Visperterminen return journey
