The Alpine grassroots of Champoussin

Description

Your stay will begin at the end of the afternoon (17:30) in Champoussin. After settling in at the Auberge Chez Gaby 1670, you will enjoy a sociablemoment over a cheese and mountain herb fondue.

After a good night’s sleep at the Auberge, it’s time for a delicious "Région Dents du Midi" breakfast, an opportunity to taste a piece of “Salée de la Vallée”, a traditional cake from the region, before meeting your guide for a hike to La Chaux mountain pasture, where you will have an opportunity to discover and pick local herbs. Your harvest will allow you to prepare your own lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll return to Champoussin, accompanied by your guide. Here, at the "A Gaby" farm, you’ll watch goats being milked, followed by  a tasting of some of the farm produce with a glass of wine.

For the evening meal, you’ll return to the Auberge chez Gaby 1670 and, to end the day on a high note, your host will offer a workshop on making goat’s milk yogurt with fresh herbs.

The next morning, you’ll walk a few metres down to the "A Gaby" farm, for a regional breakfast and a chance to discover the process of making cheese. You’ll have the rest of the morning free to stroll around and/or visit the farm’s small museum. After a delicious lunch on site, you’ll return to the Auberge for a masterclass in wild plant pastry making, including nougat with goat’s cheese, mountain herbs picked the day before and dried fruits.

At the end of the afternoon, at around 17:00, you can return home by public bus or your private car.
