Description

The most beautiful routes in the Swiss Alps

Impressive stone dams, breathtaking rides through passes and idyllic Valais villages – surrounded by the most beautiful and highest mountain peaks in the Swiss Alps, cycling dreams come true in Valais. Starting from Leuk, discover the Pfyn-Finges nature park and the wonderful Moosalp. One highlight follows another in Valais.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Leuk | Round trip into the Turtmann Valley

A leisurely ride initially along the Rhône until the roofs of Sierre come into view and things become more strenuous as you cycle through the Pfyn-Finges Nature Park up to Oberems and then follow the long Turtmann Valley. This is followed by a relaxed descent into the Rhône valley, before a final ascent to Leuk completes today's trip.

Approx. 85 km / 2,105 m ascent / 2,105 m descent

Day 2: Leuk – Moosalp – Brig

The ride from Leuk to Brig could be very easy – but it is not. Leaving the Rhône cycle path, you climb up the serpentine road to Moosalp. Enjoy the view and take deep breaths at the top before the breathtaking (literally) descent to Stalden. Pass the saffron-growing village of Mund to reach Brig.

Approx. 65 km / 1,545 m ascent / 1,610 m descent

Day 3: Round trip to the Gibidum reservoir

A little respite for tired legs today when the ride takes you high up to the Gibidum reservoir. The imposing stoned dam is at the foot of the Aletsch glacier directly above the Massa gorge.

Approx. 25 km / 830 m ascent / 830 m descent

Day 4: Departure or individual extension

Tour characteristic

Unique scenery awaits you in Valais. Surrounded by the highest peaks in the Alps, you’ll visit some of the most famous valleys and passes in Switzerland, riding on tarred roads throughout, on which a certain amount of traffic must be taken into account near town and city centres.
