2-day ski holiday in Saas-Fee/Saastal

Description

The Saas Valley is a high Alpine holiday destination in the south of Valais. Surrounded by 18 four-thousand-metre peaks, the four localities of Saas-Fee, Saas-Grund, Saas-Almagell and Saas-Balen guarantee good snow conditions and an above-average number of sunshine hours. Skiers can make use of the 36 lifts and 150 kilometres of pistes in the three ski areas of Saas-Fee, Saas-Almagell and Hohsaas (Saas-Grund).

Saas-Fee, located on a high plateau at an altitude of 1,800 metres, is the most famous of the three ski areas. The journey from the car-free village to the pistes alone is breathtaking. First you take the Alpin Express and the panoramic Felskinn cable car up the glacier tongue at 3,000 metres above sea level. From here, the Metro Alpin, the highest underground funicular in the world, takes you up to Mittelallalin at 3,500 metres with its breathtaking views. The highlights include 100 kilometres of pistes, the Plattjen World Cup mountain and a valley descent run that covers a whopping altitude of 1,800 metres.

With 36 kilometres of pistes, the Hohsaas ski area at Saas-Grund is smaller, but no less diverse. After reaching an altitude of 3,200 metres, skiers can choose whether to conquer the Gletscherpiste or the Weissmiespiste. A fun park with a wide range of kickers and rails is every free-skier's dream, while little ones can enjoy the kids’ snow playground at the Kreuzboden mountain station,

In Saas-Almagell, the skiing adventure starts at your doorstep. The cosy, friendly ski area with its fourteen kilometres of pistes and six lifts is not to be underestimated – after all, it was on the pistes of Heidbodme that ski star Pirmin Zurbriggen took his first skiing strides.
