Hannigalp is easily accessible via the gravel road or by cable car from Grächen village. After Hannigalp and its breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains – including the Matterhorn – the tour climbs steeply via Chleini Furgge and on to Küchenwang. At this point, it’s well worth tackling the extra 50 metres on foot to the summit of the Wannehorn to enjoy the incredible vista of the southern Valais and Bernese Alps. From Küchenwang, the tour follows a slightly broader trail to another view point, the Heidnische Tossu. Here the wonderful views across the valley include the imposing peaks of the Augstbord region right up into the Mattertal Valley. From the view point, the circuit tour moves on to Stafel before returning to Hannigalp, where the Hannighüsli mountain restaurant offers typical Valais dishes and the chance to take a well-earned rest after the day’s exertions.
