Chanton Weine
The Chantons have been growing rare grapes with creativity, courage and undisputed talent since 1944, and are now in their third generation of unique varietals. Towards the end of the 1970s, Josef-Marie Chanton, son of company founder Oskar, brought the practically extinct Lafnetscha grape back to life. During the 1980s, he began making wine with Himbertscha, Gwäss and, somewhat later, with Eyholzer Red and Plantscher – four more forgotten varieties. A pioneering spirit and a talent that lives on in the family business. In 2008, he handed over the reins to son Mario, who now perpetuates the family philosophy and continues its viticultural efforts.
