Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn

The Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (MGBahn) is 144 km long and leads from Zermatt to Disentis and from Andermatt to Göschenen. It covers a difference in altitude of 3300m, passing through 33 tunnels and galleries and crossing 126 bridges and viaducts en route. The lowest point of the journey is Visp, at 625m, and the highest is the Oberalppass at 2033m.

Via Stockalper

The turmoil of the Thirty Years' War favoured the rise of the trader Kaspar Stockalper. Many magnificent buildings bear witness to his wealth and can be seen on your hike along old mule trails to the south. Your tour starts at the Stockalper palace in Brig and takes you up to the Simplon Pass, which was one of the most important routes to Italy in earlier times. A leisurely walk along the river Diveria takes you to Gondo, where your journey ends with a night in the Stockalper Tower.

Ice sports centre iischi arena

The iischi arena in Brig-Glis is popular with locals and visitors alike: a modern ice sports centre that also offers a wide range of other leisure options. In addition to skating, curling and ice hockey, the complex hosts dance, football, martial arts and other activities. More than just a sports and leisure centre, the iischi arena is a much-loved social hub for the region.

From June until April, the ice rink is open to the general public on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. For details of opening hours for the ice rink, visit the website and click on “Eishalle” to see the current timetable. Public ice skating sessions are marked “Öffentliches Eislaufen”.

Sebastiansplatz

Every year during december, an ice rink is set up on Brig’s town square called Sebastiansplatz. For several years now, the artificial ice rink attracts visitors from the entire region as well as neighbouring cantons. From December to January, it transforms the Stadtplatz into a Christmas fairy tale in which everybody is welcome. The ice rink is open daily. Ice skates are available for hire at the rink.
