Nestled between the Valais Alps to the south and the Bernese Alps to the north, the Rhône Valley is well protected from many weather fronts. The surrounding mountains act as natural barriers: clouds often release their moisture on the mountain ranges before reaching the valley. As a result, Valais is often dry, mild and sunny.

Even during the cold winter months, the sun shines for more than eight hours a day in some parts of Valais. This makes the region an attractive destination in winter as well, ideal for anyone wishing to enjoy pure mountain air, natural light and a healthy dose of vitamin D.
