Cross-country skiing

Gommer Nachtloipe

This is where night transforms into day: from mid-December to mid-March, the trail between Obergesteln and Ulrichen will be illuminated every evening from 5.30pm to 9.30pm. It promises to be a very special experience indeed.

Cross-country skiing by night at the Nachtloipe in Obergoms - Obergoms Tourismus

Cross-country skiing at night? No problem! On the trail between Ulrichen and Obergesteln, night transforms into day. During the winter season, the trail is illuminated so that it's bright as day every evening until 9:30pm. The trail follows the Rhône for a stretch of four-and-a-half kilometres, before branching off a short while to follow the Ägene river, which has its source in the Nufenen region. This is a flat trail, particularly suited for beginners and pacemakers. You’ll also find plenty of cosy restaurants along the Nachtloipe, providing a welcome opportunity to head inside and warm your spirits. The trail can be reached by taking the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn to Obergesteln or Ulrichen railway stations. Rail travel is included in the trail tariff. The Nordic Centre in Ulrichen is open to all cross-country skiers and winter hikers. The centre offers showers and toilet facilities, cloakroom, wax room and a snack bar.
