Description

Yes, the Weissmies is an excellent choice for those who have already gained experience with easier four-thousanders and are now looking for a step up. With an altitude of 4023 metres, the Weissmies offers a somewhat challenging but still feasible ascent for mountaineers who have experience with crampons and walking on a rope. By the way: "Mies" means "moss" in dialect and the Weissmies gets its name from the fact that the mighty white firn and glacier fields cover this summit like white moss. The day tour to the Weissmies begins in the morning at the valley station in Saas-Grund, from where climbers take the cable car to Hohsaas at 3100 metres above sea level. From this starting point, the ascent leads through impressive glacier landscapes with their mighty white firn and glacier fields. It takes around 3 hours and 30 minutes to comfortably reach the summit. From there, you can enjoy stunning views in all directions. The descent is via the same route back to Hohsaas. This tour promises not only an exciting alpine adventure, but also unforgettable views of the majestic mountain world. NOTE: With 1 overnight stay in the Saas Valley, most cable cars and buses are included!!!
