Description

The dam is located at the rear of the Nendaz valley in the heights of Siviez. Built between 1946 and 1951, it can retain 20 million cubic metres of water from the Printse river and produces an average of 70 million kW/h per year. The reinforced wall of the dam is 87 metres high and 420 metres long at its crown. It is part of the Grande Dixence hydroelectric power stations.

Find out more about this structure and access the inside of the wall thanks to the guided tour organized once a week. This activity is accessible to everyone from the age of six.

From Siviez, walk up to the dam (one and a quarter hour walk). Your meeting point with the guide is in front of the white house at 1:45 pm. The visit lasts about an hour and the explanations are given only in French.
