Description

Discover the secrets behind the production of the famous raclette cheese and, with a bit of luck, meet the stars of the renowned cow fights in their summer pastures.

Throughout the summer, once a week, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the Balavaux mountain pasture in the Isérables region. There, you’ll learn about the different stages of raclette cheese production and discover the daily life of the cheesemaker and herdsmen.

You’ll also visit the cheese cellar and enjoy a short walk to observe Hérens cows grazing on the pasture, before rounding off the experience with breakfast at the Balavaux cabin and a tasting of local cheese.

The meeting point is at Nendaz Tourisme at 7:30 am. Travel to Balavaux is by private vehicle via a unpaved mountain road. A guide will accompany the group throughout the morning, with a return to Nendaz Tourisme around 11:00 am.
