Mulled Wine

Preparation

  1. Pour the red wine into a pan. Rinse the oranges in warm water. Squeeze one of the oranges and add the juice to the red wine. Slice the second orange and add it to the red wine.
  2. Peel the apple, remove the seeds and slice it. Add it to the red wine.
  3. Scrape the seeds from the vanilla pod and add them to the red wine along with the cinnamon stick.
  4. Put the remaining spices (cloves, star anise, cardamom, chilli seeds) in a sieve and place it in the red wine. Leave everything in the cold red wine for an hour.
  5. Slowly heat the mixture without boiling it. Leave it on a low heat for around 30 minutes.
  6. Remove the fruit and spices. Add the sugar and heat again (don’t cook it!)
