Day 1 - Friday

Explore the ski area of Les Marécottes

Drop off your luggage at a hotel in the Martigny region and kick off your break by tackling one of the many ski areas scattered around the Rhône valley. Why not start gently by exploring Les Marécottes, whose scenic pistes and freeride runs promise abundant snow, 100% natural?

From culture to cuisine

In the afternoon, give your legs a rest and visit the museum of the St Bernard dogs. Located in a former arsenal next to a Roman amphitheatre, this living museum hosts exhibitions, works of art and documents that tell the fascinating story of the Great St Bernard Pass and its historical hospice. On the ground floor, see the kennels and areas in which the dogs are fed and groomed, and watch them romp around in the external compound. Afterwards, treat your taste buds to a delicious Raclette at one of the Martigny restaurants that belong to the association “Saveurs du Valais” (Flavours of Valais).

Day 2 - Saturday

Skiing in the Portes du Soleil

For this new day, explore the Portes du Soleil, a vast ski area where 600 kilometres of marked piste await. Advanced skiers can test their skills on one of the world’s toughest pistes, the Pas de Chavanette, while those who prefer a gentler descent will enjoy the 10 kilometres of run from Ripaille to Grand-Paradis through a variety of landscapes. And if you like the idea of a spot of freestyle, the features at the Superpark in Les Crosets offer a chance to perfect all kinds of tricks.

Visit a distillery and enjoy a tasting of cheeses and wines.

After an energetic morning, spend a little time exploring the highlights of the Valais gastronomic scene. Start with a visit to the Distillerie Morand and taste their spirits, liqueurs and syrups made from fruit ripened in the Valais sunshine. After this appetiser, head to La Fromathèque to taste a selection of cheeses and other Valais products. Take advantage of the opportunity to make a few purchases to take home – to enjoy when you get back and as gifts for family and friends.

Day 3 - Sunday

Winter sports in the “4 Vallées” ski area

Finish your break in style in Verbier and take advantage of the many winter sports options throughout the ski area. You will find pistes suitable for beginners as well as experts – such as the famous Mont-Fort run with its steep mogul field – as well as ungroomed itineraries for freeride enthusiasts. And if you would like to get a taste of ski touring, seven secured routes offer a choice of scenic ascents within the ski area.

Bliss out at a thermal spa

Round off this active and exciting weekend by soothing your leg muscles at one of the region’s thermal spas. The various indoor and outdoor pools of “Les Bains de Saillon”, along with its spa area with saunas, hammam and massage centre, promise total relaxation. And if you would like to finish your break on an active note, pop into the gym or join an aerobics class.
