Introduction to ski touring
Supervised by a guide, this course is for all those who have always dreamed of ski touring but are not sufficiently familiar with the mountains and do not have the necessary equipment. This can be rented on-site. The course is offered every winter by several resorts and can be booked directly at the local tourist offices.
Aletsch Arena
Ski touring on the Katzenlöcher on the edge of the Great Aletsch Glacier with subsequent ascent through scenically beautiful terrain (400 metres). At the start, our mountain guide gives a short introduction on the use of the avalanche transceiver, the shovel and the probe.
Nendaz
Guided introductory sessions in small groups of two to six people are available on the ski touring route from Tortin to Siviez every Saturday and Sunday in March from 9.30 am to 11.45 am for the modest sum of CHF 99.00 per participant, including equipment hire.
Région Dents du Midi
The Dents du Midi region offers a free introductory trail with info boards outlining the fundamentals of ski touring, as well as how to use AVD equipment in searching for an avalanche victim. Additional videos are also available via a QR Code. You can take your first step towards practice in Morgins. Introductory courses are held daily on request from 9:00 to 12:00 and from 13:00 to 16:00. From CHF 105 per person including equipment hire, you learn the basics of ski touring from qualified guides. Book your adventure 24 hours in advance via the Swiss Ski School in Morgins.
Vallée du trient
The mountains are yours for the taking! Explore superb places off the beaten track thanks to this fast-growing sport that allows you to escape into the mountains and immerse yourself in nature. By learning the basics on an introductory ski touring day under the supervision of an experienced mountain guide, you'll acquire all the skills you need to start! Suitable for good downhill skiers (from ten years old), this programme is also open to snowboarders, who can use a splitboard.
Veysonnaz
Initiations accompanied by a professional are offered on Wednesday mornings as well as Saturdays and Sundays throughout March from 9 am to 12 pm on the Mayens-de-l'Ours rando-track. The price is CHF 99.00 for the instructor as well as equipment hire.
Zermatt
Every Tuesday and Sunday from 8.30am, enjoy a 5 to 6-hour guided ski touring discovery experience in the Sunnegga ski area. This course can be booked until 6pm the previous evening at Zermatters ski school and costs CHF 259 per person, including equipment hire. The activity is held provided there is a minimum of 3 participants.
