Winter sports report

Use of the winter hiking trails and information on this website is at your own risk. The conditions on site may cause changes to the route.

• Carry a map with you. Download the full description of the hiking trail including a large-scale map by clicking "Print" at the top right of the page.

• Use only marked hiking trails and follow all signposts and instructions – for your own safety, to protect livestock, and without disturbing the calm of wildlife.

• Behave considerately towards other trail users and the landscape. Take your rubbish and the rubbish of others with you.

• Carry additional sunscreen. UV rays at high altitudes can be particularly strong in winter, even in cloudy weather.

• Plan your hike carefully: take into account the required fitness of all participants, weather forecasts and seasonal dependencies.

• Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Appropriate clothing and sufficient provisions (food and drink) are very important. In case of unstable weather, it is better to turn back early.

• Do not venture onto glaciers without a mountain guide.

• Observe warning signals indicating dangers, especially avalanche risk.

• Inform third parties about your route and if possible, never go alone.

Due to the altitude and route, good footwear is absolutely necessary for this winter hike.

The snowshoe trails can be used without a guide. Warning: They are not groomed, not prepared and not checked daily. They are also not secured against natural hazards such as avalanches or falling rocks. For a guaranteed safe snowshoe experience, observe the weather forecasts and the current avalanche bulletin. Using the paths is at your own risk!
