Description

This loop immerses you in the forest located above Chandolin. Start this route by climbing the ski slope before turning off and going into the Chandolin forest. This gentle path leads you into a peaceful landscape, to the hamlet of "Pramarin." The path climbs winding through chalets to a trail branching off to the right taking you to the Illhorn ski slope. From this point, a magnificent panorama of the mountains at the bottom of the valley opens up to you. Below, you can see the Illhorn hut. Don’t hesitate to stop there for a well-deserved break to refresh yourself on its panoramic terrace. Resume the route by climbing the slope and continue your way to the Chandolin alp. The path then continues on a forest road to the junction with the ski slope, which brings you back to the village.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the bus stop, go back along the road up to the height of the tourist office. Take the road that goes up on the right and climb along the edge of the Illhorn ski slope. After a fairly athletic climb, turn left onto the famous Sierre-Zinal trail. This trail leads you through a peaceful landscape, through the forest, to the hamlet of "Pramarin." After a short climb across fields, follow the upper path that turns back to the right. Cross the ski slope and descend along the edge of the slope to the Illhorn hut for a well-deserved break. Climb back up the slope and continue towards St-Luc up to the Chandolin alp. From there, go down to Chandolin following the forest road up to the junction with the ski slope. Descend along the edge of the slope to the village.
