Description

The flat terrain of the Täsch valley floor is perfect for beginners and those seeking a gentle cross-country skiing trail. The trail winds its way to the clubhouse at the golf club before heading back to Täsch parallel with the railway line. If you fancy a longer route, there are several options for adding extra circuits. Further along the valley, at the golf club, you can either turn back towards Täsch or cross the Vispa river and do a circuit there.

  • The trail in Täsch can be reached from Zermatt in 12 minutes by rail.
  • The trail has an easy level of difficulty.
  • Changing facilities, lockers and toilets are available at the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch.
  • Equipment can be rented at the Matterhorn Terminal in the "ZERMATTERS Nordic Center Täsch".

Information

Public transport

The drive from Visp to Täsch takes about 30–40 min. The road leads through the wild and beautiful Mattertal valley. By train to Täsch: less than 3½ hours from Zürich airport or 4 hours from Geneva airport. Change at Visp onto the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn (Matterhorn Gotthard Railway). From Visp, the railway leads through the Mattertal valley past idyllic small villages to Täsch.

Täsch has car parks with both covered and open-air parking – e.g. at the Matterhorn Terminal or privately operated facilities.

  • Suitable cross-country ski boots
  • Clothing suitable for the weather (waterproof, windproof and breathable)
  • Hat or headband plus gloves and sunglasses
  • Food and drinks

Safety information

  • Please be considerate to other cross-country skiers and to plants and animals.
  • Walkers are not permitted on the cross-country ski trails.
  • Observe all signposting and directions.
  • When overtaking another cross-country skier, keep poles close to body to avoid injury.
  • On descents, maintain adequate distance from the cross-country skier ahead, and always adapt speed to conditions.
  • In the event of a stop or fall in the track, it must be cleared immediately.
