The trail between Täsch and Randa is very popular among skating and classic enthusiasts. In the well-prepared area, there is a variety of different terrain to discover.

Description

The flat terrain in the valley floor at Täsch is perfect for beginners and relaxed cross-country fans. The trail snakes to the clubhouse of the golf club and then runs parallel to the railway line back to Täsch. If this round isn’t enough, there are several options to add extra loops along the way. A little further down the valley – near the golf club – you can either run back directly to Täsch or first cross the Vispa and then do a lap there.

  • The trail at Täsch is reachable from Zermatt by train in 12 minutes.
  • The trail is rated easy difficulty

  • Changing rooms, lockers, and toilets are available at the Matterhorn Terminal Täsch.

  • Equipment can be rented at the Matterhorn Terminal in the "ZERMATTERS Nordic Center Täsch".

Author's recommendation

It is especially beautiful on the cross-country trail when it has just freshly snowed and the cold causes the snow to stick to the trees – then the landscape looks like a winter fairy tale.

Getting there
Information

Public transport

By train to Täsch: Less than 3½ hours from Zurich Airport or 4 hours from Geneva Airport. Visp is the transfer point to the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway. From Visp, the railway passes through the Nikolai Valley, past small, idyllic villages to Täsch.

Approach

From Visp, Täsch is reachable by car in about 30–40 minutes. The route leads through the wild and romantic Nikolai Valley.

Parking

In Täsch, there are parking garages with covered and uncovered spaces available, for example in the Matterhorn Terminal or from private providers.

Equipment

  • Cross-country skis and appropriate poles
  • Suitable cross-country boots
  • Clothing appropriate to the weather (weatherproof, windproof, and breathable)
  • Hat or headband as well as gloves and sunglasses
  • Food and drinks

Safety information

  • Be considerate of other cross-country skiers, as well as plants and animals.
  • Walking is not allowed on the cross-country trails.
  • Observe signage and instructions.
  • When overtaking, keep the poles close to your body to avoid endangering anyone.
  • On downhill sections, keep a sufficient distance from the skier in front and always adjust your speed to the conditions.
  • If you stop or fall on the track, clear it immediately.
  • Use of the trails is at your own risk. The municipality of Täsch disclaims all liability.
