The wine route, opened in spring 2007, is excellent for discovering the wine regions of Valais. Treat yourself to a stop at one of the cellars or a small vineyard hut and taste typical Valais wines.

Description

A vigorous ups and downs on the sunny steep south-facing slope, through well-maintained vineyards, small wine villages, and historic places such as Saillon with the miniature vineyard of the counterfeiter Farinet, or Chamoson with the octagonal tower of St-Pierre-de-Clages.

The wine route leads through the Valais wine-growing regions from Martigny to Sion and traverses the area with gentle ups and downs over a length of 39 kilometers. It passes through well-maintained vineyards, historic places, and small wine villages offering delicious wine tastings. Spontaneous tastings are therefore possible in many locations. This unique cycling route is excellent for discovering the wine regions of Valais.

Information

Public transport

Regular train connections from all over Switzerland to Martigny. At the end of the route, you arrive at Sion station. Timetables for trains and buses can be found at sbb.ch.

Approach

Via highway A9 from Lausanne or Sierre, exit Martigny-Fully (No. 21) or via the cantonal road. Via roads open year-round: Pass La Forclaz, Great St. Bernard Tunnel, Simplon Pass. Via passes only open in summer: Great St. Bernard, Nufenen, Grimsel, Furka

Follow the parking guidance system in Martigny.
