Wallis Velo Tour: Brig - St. Luc Anniviers (Stage 5)

Törbel

Brig

Closed

From Brig to St-Luc with a short detour via Moosalp, this stage is one of the highlights of the Wallis Velo Tour !

Difficulty

Difficult

Length

91.41 km

Duration

6:30 h

Description

The first kilometers from Brig to Visp follow the straight and flat section of the Rhone. Instead of continuing straight ahead at Visp, turn left towards Saas-Fee and Zermatt. Follow the narrow valley, known for its dryness, until you can turn towards Moosalp in Stalden. Then follows a steep and winding climb to Moosalp. Once back on flat ground, continue towards Val d’Anniviers until you reach the village of St-Luc.

Turn-by-turn directions

The first difficulty of this stage is probably one of the most beautiful climbs in the region. The ascent to Moosalp offers a magnificent and preserved landscape that lets you enjoy every kilometer. The subsequent descent takes you through the villages of Zenhäusern and Bürchen until you arrive again in the Rhone valley. Then continue towards Siders, where you cross the Pfynwald with its unique vegetation. The final part of the stage is also challenging, as the climb to St-Luc offers no opportunity to rest. The steep curves up to Niouc are worth every drop of sweat. However, once you have overcome the first section, it becomes a little less steep until Vissoie. With the rock face on one side and the slope on the other, this section offers a special feeling. The last section up to St-Luc demands some strength in the calves again.
