Description

Starting from Champéry, you cross the Col de Champoussin (1,588 m) and enjoy the impressive panorama of the Dents-du-Midi. After a 6km ascent, you reach the plateau and the Pas de Morgins. After descending into the Rhone valley, you ultimately ride along the Rhone riverbank to Lake Geneva. 

Turn-by-turn directions

 You leave Champéry and take on the inconspicuous Col de Champoussin at 1,588 m. The impressive rock massif of the Dents-du-Midi accompanies you throughout the entire ascent. Treat yourself to a photo break before crossing the pass and continuing on the narrow road named « Délifrette ». This road leads you to the village of Val d'Illiez, from where you continue your route on the cantonal road. After a few kilometers, turn left and start the 6km ascent towards Morgins. On the road to Pas de Morgins you pass the village of Troistorrents and cross the small town of Monthey. Along the Stockalper Canal as well as the Rhone riverbank, you reach the shores of Lake Geneva in a leisurely manner.

Take a short stroll through the village of Troistorrents and sample one of the many sweets from the local bakery « de la Poste ». Every Wednesday morning, the weekly market takes place in Monthey, which is worth a visit.

You can reach Champéry by AOMC regional train or by bus from Monthey. Detailed timetables for trains and post buses can be found at sbb.ch. 

Approach

Leave the A9 motorway at Bex and follow the signs towards Portes du Soleil / Champéry.

Parking

Since this route is a partial section of a stage route and the start location does not correspond to the destination (not a circular route), we recommend traveling by public transport. Alternatively, parking spaces at the AOMC train station or at the mountain railways can be used. Please follow the local parking guidance system for this purpose.
