Description

The route leads from Turtmann in the Rhone valley up to the pass on the Moosalp at 2044 meters above sea level. On the long ascent, you overcome a considerable altitude difference. The first kilometers lead through the forest, where the road describes four consecutive hairpin bends. Then follows a less winding section through the pastures located on the mountainside. You pass through the villages of Eischoll, Unterbäch, and Bürchen before tackling the last part to the pass, which leads through untouched nature. The narrow road winds through larch forests and offers a view of Visp located below and the opposite side of the Rhone valley. A last flat stretch near the Bürchner Alp allows a breather before the final climb to the pass summit.

Turn-by-turn directions

The starting point is located on the cantonal road near the tourist information center. From there, the signs of the Valais cycle route markings will guide you to the pass. The long ascent consists of two steep sections, each nine kilometers long, and a hilly section in between that is six kilometers long. You will pass through the villages of Eischoll, Unterbäch, and Bürchen before tackling the final part to the pass, which leads through untouched nature. A final flat stretch near Bürchner Alp allows a breather before the final climb to the pass summit.
