Set off on a climb with striking contrasts. The start of this route is located near the center of Monthey, next to the old covered wooden bridge, built in 1809. Start your ascent along the hillside and gradually leave the urban environment behind you to reach the village of Choëx, where the road winds between forest and clearing. At Les Giettes, you must turn right and follow the indication to Les Cerniers, where the arrival resembles an eagle’s nest with a splendid view of the mountains and Lake Geneva.
Turn-by-turn directions
From the covered bridge of Monthey, gain altitude thanks to a wide road that climbs gently. After a few hundred meters, two signposts offer you two route options. Continue straight and follow the directions towards Les Cerniers. Four markers like this will guide you throughout your ascent and inform you about your progress. Continue your climb until you reach the village of Les Giettes, less than two kilometers from the summit, and turn right to tackle the last meters of elevation gain, which will reward you with an exceptional viewpoint. Between lake, mountain, and larch forest, you will find a fantastic village built of white domes arranged as luxurious rooms in the midst of nature.
