Klettersteig Moiry

Grimentz

This via ferrata is classified as very difficult and offers a dizzying view of the Moiry reservoir. At the destination, the view over the Moiry dam with its turquoise water is a true delight.

Length

Duration

Description

After the vertical first section, you reach a rock ledge from which you can see the entire Val d’Anniviers. Follow the path to a rock edge from where the via ferrata can be exited. The second section can be completed in different variants and begins with a 20 m long overhang.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the car park below the dam, follow the road briefly, where a steep path branches off to the right towards the dam. The via ferrata leads vertically onto a grassy ledge and then through a crack and over a rock nose to a scenic spot. Here, climbers have three options: the intermediate route continues straight up from here. For the other two options, first follow a traverse to the right. Shortly after, there is an intermediate exit where you can leave the via ferrata via a suspension bridge. Those who continue climbing then tackle the more difficult section, which starts with an overhang. Along a ridge, the route further drains strength, which should be well rationed for the last obstacles. The difficult and intermediate variants merge again here and lead to a picnic table anchored in the rock. Those who have packed provisions can enjoy a scenic break here. After a refreshment, you can continue climbing either over a large net or via the normal route to the exit. From the exit, you can descend directly or take the slightly longer but impressive return route over the dam back to the starting point.
