Description

The mix of via ferrata and rope park elements makes the adventure via ferrata in the Gemmi wall the ideal entry point for inexperienced mountaineers, even though the difficulty level is moderate. It is therefore ideal for sporty persons of all ages.

The start is at the Gemmi Pass. From here, the via ferrata runs along the rock wall below the mountain restaurant. After about 800 meters and an altitude difference of 30 meters climbed, you have reached the goal at the mountain station of the Gemmi cable car. Highlights include the 65-meter-long rope bridge and the 20-meter-high turntable ladder. The vertical route guidance along the horizontal rock wall is unique in Switzerland.

Entrance: Use of the via ferrata is free, but the IG Klettersteig association appreciates any donation for maintenance.

Turn-by-turn directions

The start of this adventure route is located at the old Hotel Wildstrubel on the Gemmi Pass. Various elements reminiscent of a rope park accompany the climbers, especially on the first part of the via ferrata. The second part resembles a more traditional via ferrata – here you can observe Leukerbad from a bird's eye view. From the exit, you can reach the mountain station of the Gemmi cable cars in a few minutes.

Conquer the ascent or descent to the Gemmi Pass on foot: the legendary hiking trail, which shepherds and their animals travel every year, is very impressive.
