Durnand Gorge

Considered among the ten most beautiful gorges in Europe, the Gorge of Durnand offers a breathtaking scenic sight. It extends about one km, between the buttresses of the Pointe Ronde and the Catogne in Bovernier parish (613m) to the south of Martigny. The Gorges is open to the public since 1877 thanks to a bucolic trail over footbridges and wooden steps above the crashing torrent below. The path climbs 200m via 330 steps. Figure on about 60 minutes, with the possibility of returning via a footpath through the forest. Good walking shoes are strongly advised.
