Description

This 25-kilometer mountain bike route takes you to the legendary Hotel Weisshorn and along the famous Planet Trail. Leave your marks here. The distances between the celestial objects correspond to the real ratio. Every meter traveled corresponds to one million kilometers. The sun and the nine planets accompany you along the way. This route is worthwhile just because of the panorama and views of the Val d'Anniviers as well as the Rhone Valley. The route can be shortened by taking the funicular.

Our favorites

Our favorite itineraries are part of a selection of the best routes in the region and are proposed by Valais/Wallis Promotion to best meet the expectations of our guests.

Turn-by-turn directions

This route begins in the sunny village of St-Luc at 1600 meters elevation. On the first stage, you pass through the forest areas Forêt du Rochet and Forêt des Teppes on a wide forest road. Then you reach Tignousa, the valley station of the funicular. The route can be significantly shortened by taking the funicular. Very close to the mountain station stands the François-Xavier Bagnoud Observatory, which regularly offers solar observations and astronomical experiences. Follow the Planet Trail. Here the solar system has been replicated on a reduced scale. Now you approach the destination. The last meters before the legendary Hotel Weisshorn are of overwhelming beauty, overlooking the entire Val d'Anniviers. After a well-deserved break and a visit to this historic hotel from 1882, you return the same way back to Chiesso. A beautiful descent leads over Copaté back to St-Luc.
