Discover a loop circuit in the heart of the Val d'Hérens, offering breathtaking views of the authentic villages in the Evolène region.
This unique 20.25-kilometre mountain bike route, with a 1,044-metre positive gradient, is perfect for experienced mountain bikers. Passing through the charming villages of Les Haudères and La Forclaz, the route climbs to the alpine pastures of Tsaté, Prélet and Cotter, offering spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The descent to Villaz and La Sage reveals breathtaking panoramas. Nature, local wildlife and unspoilt landscapes make this tour an unforgettable adventure.
The route starts at the junction of the road between La Forclaz and the road between Arolla and Les Haudères, heading east towards La Sage. You'll pass through lush Alpine countryside before arriving at the charming village of La Forclaz. From here, the climb becomes steeper towards the Tsaté mountain pasture. The slope takes you through meadows and small alpine streams. At the top, stop off at the Tsaté refreshment bar to enjoy some local specialities; then continue on to the Prélet and Cotter mountain pastures before descending towards Villaz, with uninterrupted views of the surrounding mountains and the Val d'Hérens. The descent to Les Haudères is technical, with several sharp bends through alpine pastures, making the return to your starting point as challenging as the ascent. Enjoy the diverse scenery along the way, between mountain forests, authentic villages and alpine pastures.
Stop off at the Tsaté refreshment bar, which serves local food and drink and is open every weekend from summer to October.
