Description

The biggest mountain bike playground in Europe is yours with this loop starting in Champéry! Armed with your mountain bike pass, climb the peaks and ride through the bike parks of Les Crosets, Avoriaz and Châtel to experience or relive the thrills of the unmissable Pass’Portes du Soleil MTB!

Meet up at the foot of the Champéry cable car (free parking in summer), where you can pick up your Portes du Soleil MTB pass at the lift ticket offices (also available online if you have an NFC-compatible card).

The 4h E-Bike loop (allow 1h more for muscle biking) will take you through the following points:

1-Champéry: Cable car to Croix-de-Culet
2-Les Crosets : Mossettes chairlift to the Pointe of the same name (2'277m - highest point of the Portes du Soleil)
3-Avoriaz : Prolays chairlift to the resort center
4-Avoriaz : Séraussaix chairlift, passing through the downhill slopes and the heart of the Bikepark
5-Avoriaz: Zore chairlift, return to Montriond
6-Montriond: Chaux Fleurie chairlift to Châtel
7-Châtel : Super-Châtel gondola lift to Chalet Neuf / Morgins
8-Morgins : Morgins gondola to the top of La Foilleuse, direction Champoussin.
9-Les Crosets : through the village center towards Champéry.
<10-Champéry: arrival at the cable car parking lot.

This loop will take you through downhill mountain bike trails. Don't set off on the trails unless you're properly equipped and prepared.

If you'd like to do this route with an electric mountain bike, free charging points are available at some alpine restaurants and refreshment stands.

Getting there
Information

Public transport

From Monthey, take the AOMC train line (Aigle - Ollon - Monthey - Champéry) and get off at the terminus, at the Champéry station/cable car.

Approach

Take exit 18 Saint-Triphon off the A9 freeway towards Monthey and follow the brown “Portes du Soleil” signs. After passing through the Collombey tunnel, continue on Road 21 towards Champéry.    

Parking

The cable car parking lot is free in the summer.

Equipment

We recommend: bike in excellent working order, helmet, gloves and bell, clothing suitable for the weather (always carry a waterproof), food and drink. Preparing for mountain bike outings
