Description

The loop begins at the village square of Saas-Grund. After crossing the bridge towards Saas-Fee, the route branches off northwards on different paths, first downhill along the creek, then through a larch forest to the hamlet of Bidermatten. Here begins the first descent on a rarely used field path to the round church of Saas-Balen.

Now it's time to pedal again, as the ascent begins along the river towards Saas-Almagell. In Bidermatten, you pass through the lower part and the meadows of the hamlet. Once in Saas-Almagell, a small lake and various restaurants invite you to a well-deserved break.

Finally, the route leads over the "Biele" out of the valley, following the asphalt road on the left side. This final ascent is rewarded with a fast descent to the hamlet "Unner de Bodme." From there, the path leads back to the starting point in Saas-Grund.

Our favorites

Our favorite itineraries are part of a selection of the best routes in the region and are proposed by Valais/Wallis Promotion to best meet the expectations of our guests.

Turn-by-turn directions

From the village square in Saas-Grund, mountain bikers follow the road towards Saas-Fee. After the bridge, the trail turns north and follows the Vispa to the crossroads. It climbs westward onto the singletrail, which leads through the forest to the hamlet of Bidermatten and crosses the upper part of the hamlet. At the second junction, the trail turns north, crosses the parking lot, and continues north at the next intersection. Then it leads down to the round church of Saas-Balen and then to the cantonal road, following the creek on the left side upstream to the bridge of Bidermatten. Here it goes up over the road and before the parking lot, the trail leads down south, through the hamlet and over meadows to the creek, which mountain bikers follow upstream to Saas-Almagell.
From Saas-Almagell, the trail follows the paved road past the weaving studio downhill along the creek. At the crossroads before the forest, the path climbs left and crosses the "Biele." After the descent, it passes through the hamlet "Unner de Bodme" and follows the creek downstream to the starting point in Saas-Grund.
